“Real Heroes is a home run from start to finish. Every chapter informs and inspires. A master storyteller, Reed reminds us that heroism is much more than a fleeting impulse or an isolated instance. It springs from personal character, without which a free society is impossible.”
—Walter E. Williams, economist, George Mason University
“A comprehensive roll call of the champions of liberty. You’ve heard of some of these extraordinary men and women, you’ll wonder why you haven’t heard of others before, but you’ll learn something in every chapter.”

Required reading for every age
By Justin
"Real Heroes" should be required reading in every household and classroom. Over short, very approachable chapters, Reed tells the stories of 40 incredible -- and often unlikely -- heroes who exemplify how every person can use character and conviction to overcome any challenge they face in life. After reading the chapters on Nicky Winton and Witold Pilecki, I promise no challenge in your life will ever again seem insurmountable.

Heroes typically don't wear uniforms
By Dave
In the debates on whether or not one should stand for the national anthem, all too often the argument is invoked of people who died in battle in the service of their country. These people certainly are brave, but not all American wars have been just wars. So I believe that defining heroism in such a way is too narrow. Reed supplies multiple examples of heroism, bravery, and a love for liberty where the hero was a civilian. He demonstrates that their adherence to principle and character in the face of adversity made them heroes.
