This is a great book for anyone who enjoys fly-fishing for pike and aspires to travel to some incredible hotspots near and far to chase after these fish. While not the same heft as his groundbreaking first book Muskie on the Fly, author and esox expert Robert Tomes does a very good job of providing a ton of information on not only where to go, but also where to stay, local resources, who to contact for more information, guides and even exactly when to go. I especially liked the inspired layout which includes detailed and regional maps for each destination. And the pike photos are simply spectacular. Well worth the price and definitely a wonderful reference for years to come.

This book is invaluable to me. I needed a crash course on understanding my role as hygienist cleaning implants. This was well illustrated and very helpful. Highly recommend this book.

Needs a copy editor

I am a periodontist and I wanted to learn how hygienists are trained to examine and clean implants. There is some good information for hygienists, including clinical tips and some literature references. This book is written by a hygienist and geared toward hygienists, and it won't have the same level of detail or sophistication as one geared for dentists, especially specialists. For general dentists and specialists I would definitely recommend Stuart Froum's Dental Implant Complications over this textbook.

I have not finished reading this book yet, but I have already come across at least three typos. One identified a periodontal textbook, Periodontics: Medicine, Surgery and Implants as Prosthodontics: Medicine, Surgery and Implants. Little errors and typos are all over this book.

About the Author

Usman Ahmed is CTO of unconventional oil and gas resources technology and executive technical advisor to WellDog, and more recently, vice president and chief reservoir engineer at Baker Hughes. He previously worked for Schlumberger, TerraTek, and his own reservoir and production engineering consulting firm, Energy Resources International. He has two patents and more than three decades of petroleum engineering experience. He is a Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) distinguished member, a recognized technical and professional industry leader, and the author and coauthor of more than 100 industry papers and textbooks. He was an SPE distinguished speaker in 2004-2005 and 2013-2014, and has been invited to numerous events as a keynote speaker and panelist. He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University.

D. Nathan Meehan serves as senior executive advisor to Baker Hughes. He was previously president of CMG Petroleum Consulting, vice president of engineering for Occidental Oil and Gas, and general manager of exploration and production services for Union Pacific Resources. He was recently elected the 2016 president of the Society of Petroleum (SPE) Engineers. He is an SPE distinguished member with more than 38 years of experience in reservoir engineering, reserve estimation, hydraulic fracturing, and horizontal wells. He holds a B.Sc. in physics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, M.Sc. in petroleum engineering from the University of Oklahoma, and Ph.D. in petroleum engineering from Stanford University. About the Author
Elizabeth Weal teaches English to adults in Redwood City, CA. Most of her students are from Latin America. When she found that there was no easy book, in Spanish, that explained grammar in simple, easy to follow language she decided to write her own book. Experience has taught her that virtually all students can understand the fundamentals of English grammar; all that is required is simple explanations and lots of practice. Elizabeth is the author of Gramatica del ingles: Paso a paso 1; Gramatica del ingles: Paso a paso 2, English Grammar: Step by Step 1, and English Grammar: Step by Step 2. She also has written teachers guides for these books, Teaching in English: Step by Step. Her most recent work is Writing in English: Step by Step, a book that teachers ESL students how to work clear, coherent, grammatically correct paragraphs in English.

Excellent Resource!!

As a long time ESL teacher, I was so happy to find this teacher's manual and the accompanying grammar books. Because my students are almost 100% native Spanish speakers with a wide range of education backgrounds, I have especially appreciated that the grammar books come written in Spanish also. This has allowed my students to develop a more solid grammar base in their native language which is then more easily transferred to English. The activities in this teacher manual are a great compliment to the lessons highlighted in the grammar books and are easily differentiated for multiple levels. They really engage the students and allow for more active lessons to break up the two hour class period. I highly recommend this teacher manual and the accompanying grammar books to any ESL teacher!

I have been using Elizabeth Weal's two grammar books, Gram�tica del ingl�s, Books 1 and 2 for the past two years. With this new book aimed at teachers and tutors, I have found many useful activities to make the grammar lessons come alive. I like the activities that Elizabeth has suggested very much and I like the fact that they repeat so the students will be familiar with the routines. In addition to the great teaching ideas, Elizabeth's heartfelt introduction to the book is inspirational. It is titled "One ESL teacher's perspective." I recommend all of Elizabeth's grammar books to anyone who teaches a beginning or multi-level ESL class to Spanish-speaking learners.

Helpful to tutors

Our literacy council utilizes volunteer tutors to assist adult learners, and Elizabeth Weal's grammar books are big favorites with our tutors. Since our volunteers typically do not come to us with a background in teaching English grammar, they often struggle with getting concepts across successfully to the students. Elizabeth's format - wherein she contrasts Spanish language constructs with the English language counterparts - is really helpful to both the students and the tutors. They fill a niche very nicely in our instructional materials library.
