Beautiful and easy to make wedding crafts in this book!

We all know weddings are extremely expensive. All of the flowers, cake, decorations, and dresses add to the total cost. However, you can reduce the cost of the wedding by doing decorations yourself. This book gives you a pile of great ideas of how you can do these craft projects yourself. In fact, handmade decorations are much better than store bought since it puts that personal touch on the wedding that you really are going to want to draw attention to. The wedding day itself is a personal day and the decorations that go with it should also match!

This book is an excellent book for Civil Engineering schools. It is a first undergrad course in Civil Engneering/Technology or in Enviromental courses. It gives the basic knowledge in this subjects for prepartion for more advanced under undergrad studies of each of the major items in the book. The book is an overview of these crucial studies, and enables the student to easier undrstand and study the material in advanced courses.

I use this text in my course "Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment" It includes some chapters beyond the scope of the course, but there is enough "good stuff" in the first 10-11 chapters to make it appropriate. I hope this text is updated every few years to include new material. The style is clear and has numerous graphics and problems to help the student.

The beginning of a new age.

This is an AMAZING start to a series, even if you've never seen Ultraman don't worry it catches you up right at the beginning and then starts building up the characters and ends with what fells like a big block buster action movie fight. Just pick it up you won't regret it.

Panders to fans without being compelling

I'm a huge Ultraman fan and love all the variations of the hero that appear on TV and movies. This manga feels like it's written to appeal to me, but ends up pandering - starting off with introductions of elderly Hyata and Ide. Hyata seems dull and frightened, while Ide seems unrealistic. Despite decades of close relationship, they've hidden enormous secrets from each other - I don't buy it. Over and over, the story contains unbelievable elements like "the ultra factor", Hyata in unhelmeted exo-armor, and why would a Bemular even need exo armor much less fit in it? c'mon.
The art is dramatic but hard to decipher - even for a manga maniac. But I'm a huge fan, so I read it and I'll read the sequels but I can't recommend it.

The next generation of the family line.

A interesting take on the Ultraman franchise. It's set years after the original TV series and Hyata, if you follow the Japanese ending and not the English dubbed one, still doesn't remember his time with the Science Patrol during the period Ultraman was around or the fact he was Ultraman. Although he does have some enhanced strength now that he can not explain and hides.But his friend Ide shows him footage the government doctored to remove the fact an alien destoryed a plane in mid air. Flash forward 12 years later and Hyata's son Shinjiro, who also processes enhanced abilities, is met by said alien and attack.

Now as a first volume, it's not bad. actually it went by by pretty quick. but it sets up the premise for shinjiro, the hero in this series, explaining that his father had a left over "Ultraman factor" in his genes that he inherited. Outside of a kid who's trying to appear normal I really didn't get much of a read on Shinjiro. Although Ide seems to have some secrets and a agenda, or that could also just be how interpreting his line, that doesn't jive with his more comedy relief role in the original series Hyata feels the same to me. If you are a fan of the ultra franchise I would check it out.

A tediously detailed hagiography of the prolific pop star who is most famous for changing his name to an unpronounceable typographic symbol, and is now universally referred to as the Artist Formerly Known as Prince. The First Thirty Years might have been a better subtitle, since Nilsen (Prince: A Documentary, not reviewed) begins at his subject's birth as Prince Roger Nelson in 1958, through sexually charged hit records, grueling concert tours, the making of feature films and sound tracks, to the end of 1987, as Prince capriciously decides to withdraw his ``Black Album'' while it is being shipped to record stores. Along the way Nilsen bathes every step on Prince's rise to fame in mythic overtones. ``His talent was so great,'' he quotes an early manager, ``that I walked out of an $8 million-a-year business for him.'' The son of a part-time jazz musician and a woman who sang in his band, Prince learned to play piano, drums, and guitar while in his teens and rapidly established himself on the Minneapolis dance club scene with flamboyant costumes and tightly scripted shows of flagrantly sexual songs he sang in an androgynous falsetto while doing a striptease or fondling his guitar. Between performances, he worked obsessively on new songs, sometimes for 48-hour marathons without sleep or food. During the first half of the `80s, Prince recorded so much music for himself, for mainstream singers Sheena Easton and Kenny Rogers, and for former lovers Vanity, Apollonia, and Sheila E. that it seemed a short step to the silver screen. His first feature film, the autobiographical Purple Rain, won him a national mainstream audience. But subsequent films Graffiti Bridge and Under a Cherry Moon flopped, though Prince remains respected as a pop experimenter whose techniques have been copied by more commercial singers. The best biography on Prince EVER

"DanceMusicSexRomance" is something different, however. It's, as Per himself describes it, 'a serious study, or something, since it combines a biography-style approach with an in-depth examination of his lyrics and music.' A tremendous amount of research was done for the book, spanning six years and including over 300 hours of interviews with people that were around during this period in Prince's career. One of them, sound engineer Susan Rogers, sat through 15 hours of questions about her studio work with Prince. Per's new book uncovers many previously unknown details about Prince's working habits, and makes you wonder how he and his entourage can keep their sanity intact while working impossible hours. The book contains numerous tales of birthdays and holidays spent performing, rehearsing or recording, sometimes all at once. Prince often demands the impossible from those working with him, and the accounts of the break-ups in both his professional and personal life are often damning. Per also uncovers the truth about many rumours and provides some surprises about Prince's music. The first few pages of Chapter Ten are breathtaking, as Per describes how Prince enters the Sunset Sound recording studios in Los Angeles ten days after finishing the Purple Rain tour, and records the first four songs of "Parade" in one go. The reality behind the decision to shelve the legendary "Black Album" in late 1987, a mere week before it was supposed to hit the stores, is exposed as being far more prosaic than Prince's explanations.
Thankfully, unlike many other traditional biographies, "DanceMusicSexRomance" concentrates on Prince's music and not his personal life, even though that part inevitably interacts with his music. It is well known that several songs on "Sign O' The Times", like "Forever In My Life" and "If I Was Your Girlfriend", are about his relationship with Susannah Melvoin (twin sister of Wendy Melvoin of Wendy & Lisa fame), but I was surprised to learn that "The Beautiful Ones" (on "Purple Rain") is also about her. Apparently, a lot of his other songs have a basis in real life, and aren't just the result of a very sharp imagination. It's also this aspect of the book that's most unflattering for Prince: he's seemingly incapable of maintaining just one relationship at a time (it is true that Prince has regularly shared both his studio as well as his bed with the female 'artists' he's worked with), he 'borrows' ideas from people and fails to credit them for it, he's unfaithful yet demands absolute loyalty from those around him. Among the more disturbing revelations, Prince's concept of 'friendship' is one that leaves a lasting impression. 'He doesn't trust you unless you're on his payroll,' says one of those interviewed for the book.
You don't have to be a Prince fan to enjoy "DanceMusicSexRomance", and as far as music biographies go, this one belongs at the top, alongside books like Michael Azerrad's "Come As You Are: The Story Of Nirvana". Granted, the book isn't without its faults: it would greatly benefit from an alphabetical index of names, song titles and places, and the photo section is somewhat disappointing. A second volume, dealing with Prince's post-1987 career, is planned, but only if the first book is successful: 'I can't spend another four, five, six years and invest a lot of money, which I've done, if the book only sells a few hundred copies,' says Per. 'Hopefully, it'll do better than that.' It certainly deserves to, and actually, Prince deserves to; it would be a shame if that period of Prince's career were only covered by cut'n'paste jobs such as Liz Jones' "Slave To The Rhythm". Perhaps Alan Leeds, who has worked closely with Prince and won a Grammy Award for his liner notes to the James Brown box set "Star Trax", says it best in his foreword to "DanceMusicSexRomance": 'If every artist as worthwhile as Prince has a historian as fastidious as Per, the future of this genre of musicology is safe and sound.'

This is very unique Vampire story

Written originally in French in 1825, now it's available in English.

In this story the Vampire is an instrument of divine judgment. But it is also driven by the common view that suicide is an unforgivable Sin, as a Baptist the idea of any Sin being beyond redemption is offensive to me. But the author doesn't seem to like that idea either even though it's based on the Catholic assumption that that is the case.

It's another example of how Vampires being Sympathetic, Brooding, Tragic or "Emo" is not a recent trend at all, this is within 7 years of the birth of the modern Vampire. And not only is Alinska sympathetic and Tragic, she's still in fact the most sympathetic and Tragic vampire story ever conceived. Varney, Barnabas, Louis and Lestat, Angel and Spike, ect. all have very happy existences compared to Alinska in this novel.

I'd recommend this highly for any Vampire fan, but

Solid Mystery

Obviously, reviewers Bryan and Phil have not read Murder, Honey and have some personal issue with the author. Both "reviews" were submitted the exact same day. Reviewer Bryan also submitted a nasty review on another Hansen mystery that same day. Murder, Honey is a fun murder mystery set in Santa Cruz, California. It is a fast read with a spunky heroine and surprising plot twists. For those who know of Santa Cruz, the local color will add extra enjoyment.

A sweet but piquant cozy

Pastry chef and amateur sleuth Carol Sabala investigates the murder of a fellow chef lots of people love to hate. She's a determined woman with strong opinions about love and lust, A quick and quirky sense of humor. And an eye for detail. Set in the seaside town of Santa Cruz, it's a thoroughly enjoyable read.

I just finished this book. I enjoyed the story and found it entertaining. Hansen captured my interest with her attention to detail and easy flow of words. I loved that it depicted the place I live and places I visit everyday with accurate detail. I plan to read more of her books in the future.

Shun Chen is a doctor in Applied Economics and now works at Shanghai Maritime University. Her research interests are on the economic and econometric modeling and forecasting in the shipping market. Her research work was published by Maritime Policy & Management and Maritime Economics & Logistics.

Hilde Meersman� is a Professor at the University of Antwerp, Faculty of Applied Economics. Her activities are situated in Economics, Transport Modelling and Econometrics. She is also a visiting professor at several international universities.

Eddy Van de Voorde is a Professor at the University of Antwerp, Faculty of Applied Economics. His activities are situated in Maritime Economics, Port Economics, Air Transport and Logistics. He is also a visiting professor at several international universities.

Koos Frouws an assistant Professor at the University of Delft , faculty Ship Design Production & Operations. He is active in ship design, evaluating ship designs, shipping management, simulation and transport modelling of logistic chains.

About the Author
D.S. Malik is a Professor of Mathematics and the first recipient and current holder of The Frederick H. and Anna K. Scheerer Endowed Chair in Mathematics at Creighton University. Dr. Malik received his Ph.D. from Ohio University in 1985 and has published more than 50 papers and 18 books on abstract algebra, applied mathematics, graph theory, fuzzy automata theory and languages, fuzzy logic and its applications, programming, data structures, and discrete mathematics.

NOT for Self-Study

I bought this book thinking it would help me self study. I was wrong!

Take the title as is, Lab Manual. Meaning this is something your teacher will assign to you. You then complete the problems in the book, tear it out along the perforated pages, and call it a day.

So if you're buying this because your teacher said it's what s/he will assign homework from, then it is what it is.

But if you're buying this because you need some extra help for self-study, then this ain't it! There's no answer to solutions to let you know if you're right or wrong. So what's the point?

Now the main textbook on the other hand is great. Disclaimer: I have an intermediate background in programming. So I just need the basics and the textbook does just that. But even for beginners I think it does a pretty good job at making things simple.

For me there are plenty of examples in the textbook that I can follow along and get the practice I need. So unless it's required for a course, I would skip the lab manual.
